A 17-year-old has been charged in relation to an incident which saw a man stabbed on a bus in West Auckland.

The man was seriously injured shortly after 4pm in Henderson, on Monday.

The teenager has been charged with wounding and is expected to appear in the Youth Court later today, a police spokesman said.

The victim of the incident is to be released from hospital today.

Police said the two men involved were both teenagers, but they could not confirm whether they knew each other, or, whether it was a random attack on the grounds that the matter is before the court.

“We’re not in a position to comment further,” he said.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident after the driver of the bus called the police, a spokesman from Auckland Transport said on Monday.

He said the bus driver was not injured “but is in shock, and is being looked after.”
