Covid-19: The public facilities open in Auckland under alert level 3, step 2

It’s not just retail reopening on Wednesday when Auckland moves to step 2 of alert level 3.
Some of the city’s public facilities, like museums and libraries, will also open their doors thanks to the loosening of restrictions.
Measures will be in place to allow safe social distancing, face coverings will be required and scanning of QR codes are mandatory.
Here are the public facilities and services able to reopen.

Auckland Zoo
Auckland Zoo has announced it will open on November 11 with “limited numbers”, available only to annual pass members. No general admission tickets or memberships will be sold at this stage.
However, a limited number of free daily community tickets will be made available to the public when the zoo reopens.
“The zoo will be working with various charities, front line organisations and community groups across Auckland to allocate these tickets to those whose wellbeing would benefit most from a trip to the zoo at this time.”
An email was sent out to annual pass members confirming their membership would be extended by three months and 13 days, covering from when the zoo first closed on August 18.
Libraries
All 56 Auckland libraries will be reopening from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, offering a limited service.
Visitors will not be allowed inside the libraries at this stage, those who visit for click and collect will be expected to comply with public safety measures such as scanning in, mask use and social distancing.
Service centres
Auckland Council service centres will reopen, except for those in Kumeū, Westgate, Takapuna, Pukekohe, Papakura and Helensville.
Motat
Museum of Transport and Technology (Motat) will reopen and operate from 10am to 4pm every day of the week, with a limit of 100 people.
Some spaces in Motat will remain closed, however the museum will offer 50 per cent off general admission tickets.
Auckland War Memorial Museum
The Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum will reopen from November 15 with a limited capacity of 500 people.
Interactives and confined rooms such as the volcano house will not be available for the public and the museum’s library is available through appointment.
The museum’s food services and drinking fountains will not be available in step 2 of alert level 3.
Alongside the museum, the Auckland Art Gallery will be open from November 15 to members only, and November 17 to the public.
A major exhibition on British designer, Mary Quant will open from December 10.
Additional services
Auckland Council’s waste services such as community recycling centres and recovery stores will reopen to the public.
Visitor centres at Arataki and the Auckland Botanic Gardens sites will be opened.
Cemeteries will still be closed, but are available for appointments with reduced services.
Chamberlain Park Golf Course shop will open, as will all public toilets
Pools, gyms and leisure centres remain closed, as do holiday parks and campgrounds.
