Live: Torrential rain and thunderstorms flood Auckland, head down towards Waikato

Auckland has been hammered by heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Strong winds and heavy rain have battered Auckland's streets throughout the morning, as a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by MetService for Auckland, Great Barrier Island, the Coromandel Peninsula and Waikato.

Metservice has issued warnings for Auckland, Northland and Coromandel areas saying heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across Monday.
