'Technical difficulties' forced Saturday night's $5 million Powerball draw to be carried out off-air.

Host Sonia Gray announced the final Powerball number before the machine malfunctioned.

'There it is - Powerball number six,' she said congratulating the winners before noticing the number had been knocked out of the pipe.

'Okay unfortunately we appear to be experiencing some technical difficulties. The remainder of the draw will now be conducted off-air under audit scrutiny.'

The Powerball number from the audited off-air draw was 01, while the final Lotto numbers were 17, 18, 21, 34, 37 and 40. The bonus ball was 12.

Powerball this week was for $5 million, and one player from the Waikato scored $1 million with Lotto First Division. The ticket was bought online.

Powerball has rolled over to Wednesday evening, which offers a $6m jackpot. Strike Four has also carried over to Wednesday and increased to $300,000.

Anyone who bought their ticket on MyLotto could check it immediately online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App.
