Cyclist dead after crash in Wairarapa

A cyclist has died after a crash with a car in Wairarapa.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called out just before 5pm on Sunday to an accident in Western Lake Rd, 7km south of Featherston.

The cyclist, a 48-year-old man from Lower Hutt, was killed.

The crash happened between Bartons Rd and Cross Creek Rd.

Life Flight's Westpac rescue helicopter was sent out to the scene.

The serious crash unit was investigating.
