Elderly man dead after car crash at North Shore Hospital

A man has died after a car crash on the grounds of North Shore Hospital in Auckland.

A police spokesman said the car crashed into a tree at around 12.55pm on Monday afternoon on Shea Tce, Takapuna.

'An elderly male received CPR at the scene but unfortunately has died,' they said.

Police suspect the cause of the man's death was medical but said it's too soon to confirm either way.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
