Helicopter video shows extent of the fire in Waikari Valley near Waipara, North Canterbury.

The Port Hills fire continues to burn with helicopters equipped with monsoon buckets assisting the effort.

Just as firefighters start to get the Port Hills fire under control, another blaze valley blaze has evacuated two streets just north of the city.
