Man dead after being hit by car in Auckland, woman charged with murder

A 40-year-old woman has been charged with murder after allegedly driving into a man and killing him in West Auckland.
The victim and the woman were known to each other, police said.
The incident was reported at 11.20pm on Thursday and police started a scene examination shortly.

Police were called to Moire Rd, in Massey, around 11.20pm on Thursday following a report of a person struck by a vehicle.

Despite efforts from first responders, the man sadly died at the scene, police said.
Waitematā CIB’s Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Poland said the victim and the woman were known to each other.
“As such, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.
“We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
A 40-year-old woman has been charged with murder and is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Friday.
Poland said the community could expect to see an increased police in the area while further enquiries were carried out.
“A scene guard remains in place this [Friday] morning and will likely continue throughout the day.”
Police have launched a homicide investigation.
On Thursday night, police were reported to be monitoring a car in the middle of Moire Rd and a Serious Crash Unit was also in the attendance.
Fire crews and St John ambulance were also called to the scene.
