Man charged with arson following Coromandel house fire

A 37-year-old man has been charged with arson after a house fire in Coromandel Town overnight.

Emergency services responded to the blaze at a property on Alfred Street just after 12.15am.

The fire caused significant damage to the house, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Police arrested the man at the scene, and following further investigation, he was charged with arson. He is scheduled to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.

Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
