A woman has has been found dead and a man has been arrested after police rushed to a Kāpiti Coast home overnight.

Police say they were called to a house on Matatua Road in Raumati Beach around 1.15am on Monday morning after a report of someone being injured.

The property on Matatua Rd was cordoned off on Monday morning.

A scene guard has been in place overnight.

They found the woman dead and a 24-year-old man was taken into custody.

He is due to appear in Porirua District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and police say further charges are being considered.
