Pedestrian struck and killed on State Highway 12 in Dargaville, Northland

A pedestrian has been killed after being struck on a Dargaville highway.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.15am on Thursday.
The road is closed between Hokianga Road and Parore West Road and detours are in place.
State Highway 12 is closed in the Northland town of Dargaville after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police say emergency services responded to the crash between a car and pedestrian at the intersection of Murdoch Street and Colville Road just after 1.15am.
The male pedestrian was found dead when police arrived.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said they initially sent two crews to assist ambulance and police.
A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John referred all enquiries to police.
Police say they would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help before emergency services arrived.
NZTA have alerted motorists that the road is closed between Hokianga Road and Parore West Road due to the crash, between Colville Road and Logan Street.
Detours are in place.
Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage of the incident to use the 105 service and quote reference number P066595475.
