Major Auckland road closed after pedestrian critically injured in crash

A pedestrian has suffered critical injuries after being struck by a car, prompting the closure of a major Auckland road.
Emergency services were called to Chapel Road in East Tāmaki on Thursday morning after the crash was reported to police at about 6.39am.
Police said the collision involved a car and a pedestrian. One person was critically injured.
Chapel Road is closed between Smales Road and Carlingford Drive while emergency services respond and inquiries continue.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and expect delays.
