Two people have been seriously injured after a reported stabbing in central Auckland on Friday night.

Inspector Kai Shao told Stuff emergency services were called to an apartment building on Greys Avenue in the CBD at around 10.35pm, to reports two people had been stabbed.

A man and a woman were found injured and a spokesperson for Hato Hone St John said both were rushed to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries.

RNZ reported the incident took place at Kāinga Ora's Te Mātāwai supported living development, and spoke to a resident who described the incident as “intense”.

“You could clearly hear someone yelling 'I've been stabbed, I've been stabbed, call the police',” Angus Jowitt told RNZ.

A 34-year-old was arrested at the scene without incident and police say they are investigating the full circumstances of what happened.

Police said he will appear at Auckland District Court on Saturday charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Kāinga Ora were approached for comment but referred all queries to Police.
