Voters have delivered a resounding endorsement of compulsory KiwiSaver, while political parties square off over superannuation reform and new payback rules for retirement village residents. Political correspondent Zane Small reports.

The coalition government would lose power on the numbers in the latest 1News Verian Poll.
National was on 29%; Labour was the highest polling party on 32%; Greens had 13%, New Zealand First 11%; Act 6%; Te Pāti Māori 1.8%.
The poll shows the rebranded Opportunity Party at 4.6% – just 0.4 percentage points off the 5% needed to get into Parliament.
