Scooter rider critically hurt after crash with car

A scooter rider has been critically injured in a crash.

Police said the crash, involving the scooter and a car, happened about 5.20pm on Waiuku-Otaua Rd, south of Waiuku.

The road, between Smith Rd and Misa Rd, is expected to be closed for some time.

Diversions are in place and motorists should expect delays, police said.

The police serious crash unit is investigating.
