Truck fire blocks part of SH1 on Kāpiti Coast

The truck fire blocked traffic heading south near Ōtaki.

A truck fire temporarily blocked part of State Highway 1 on the Kāpiti Coast on Wednesday morning.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) said shortly after 7am the highway had been closed to southbound traffic by Ōtaki, near Lawlors Rd.

In an update before 7.30am, NZTA said the site had been cleared and all lanes were open.

“Expect delays southbound through the area while emergency services are on-site this morning,” the agency said.
