“They can’t comment further as it is now a police matter.”

Nearby pharmacy worker Phillip Kang told Stuff he heard a “big noise” shortly before emergency services arrived.

“I thought it was either a car backfiring or a car crash. Not too sure if that noise was related to whatever is going on.”

Local resident Anel Viljoen also described hearing a loud bang that rattled her house and interrupted a phone call.

A staff member at a nearby bakehouse said there were four or five police vehicles at the scene following the fire.
