Silver Ferns mid-courter Mila Reuelu-Buchanan has been left devastated after scans confirmed her season is over with a cruel knee injury.
The Northern Stars centre fall awkwardly in the second quarter of her team’s gutsy 60-56 loss to the Magic on Monday night in round eight of the ANZ Premiership.
Reuelu-Buchanan was in significant pain and had to be carried from the court.
Scans have revealed Reuelu-Buchanan suffered an ACL rupture and medial meniscus tear in her left knee.
Reuelu-Buchanan, who was part of the Silver Ferns squad who finished third in the Netball Nations Cup squad in January, was set to undergo surgery before working on her rehabilitation for a return in 2025.
“I honestly have no words, just devastated,” Reuelu-Buchanan posted to social media.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent their love.
“This is my story now so time to make it a good one and time to repair this ACL,” she said.
Her absence for the remainder of the ANZ Premiership season would be a crippling blow for the Stars who are yet to win a game in eight matches.
Her knee injury would also rule Reuelu-Buchanan out of the Silver Ferns three Taini Jamison Trophy tests against the England Roses and the two Constellation Cup tests against Australia.
Those test matches will be contested in September and October.
