Holly Robinson has won silver at three straight world para athletics champs in the shot put.

Holly Robinson has made it three silver medals at the World Para Athletics Championships in as many years.

The Dunedin athlete finished second in the F46 shot put final in New Delhi on Thursday (NZT), adding to the silver medals she won the past two years, before she fully switched to the discipline.

Robinson retired from javelin after finishing sixth at the 2024 Paris Paralympics to fully focus on shot put, and her best throw of 12.86m was a new Oceania record.

She had previously thrown a PB of 13.08m in September, but that competition was not able to be ratified for the purposes of Oceania records.

Uzbekistan’s Karomat Omonoova won with a throw of 13.07m.

Her silver medal brings New Zealand’s tally at the 2025 championships to four, after Danielle Aitchison’s gold in the 100m T36, Lisa Adams’ gold in the Shot Put F37, and Will Stedman’s bronze in the 400m T36.

There is hope for more, too, including when Aitchison lines up in her favoured 200m T36 final, and Anna Grimaldi contests the 200m T47.

An earlier version of this story said the winning throw was 12.88m. It was 13.07m.
