Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to miss Norway's game against All Whites
Monday, 13 October 2025
The All Whites have been denied the chance to challenge themselves against one of the best strikers in the world after Norway released Erling Haaland back to his Premier League club Manchester City.
The All Whites play Norway in a friendly in Oslo on Wednesday (NZT).
Haaland was one of five players withdrawn from Norway’s squad following their 5-0 rout of Israel in World Cup qualifying on Sunday.
Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sørloth has also been released back to his club, as have Julian Ryerson and Fredrik Bjørkan, while Felix Horn Myhre has been ruled out with an ankle injury.
Haaland scored a hat trick in the win over Israel to extended his leading tally in European qualifying to a remarkable 12 goals in six games, and his overall Norway total to 51 in 46 matches.
Haaland also has 12 goals in nine matches for City this season, taking his club tally to 136 in 155 games for the club.
Manchester City play Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
The All Whites are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Poland — their fourth consecutive loss after upsetting Ivory Coast in June.
