With Fehi Fineanganofo equalling the Super Rugby single-season try-scoring record, the Aotearoa Rugby Pod analyses which players have the best try-scoring strike rates in the competition’s history.

The Crusaders’ title defence has been dealt a hammer blow.

All Blacks star Will Jordan has been ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season, after sustaining a calf injury last week.

Jordan, only just back from a calf injury that sidelined him for six weeks, missed the final 10 minutes of the Crusaders’ pulsating victory against the Chiefs in Christchurch.

The Crusaders on Tuesday confirmed his calf injury would sideline him for between 4-6 weeks, ‘ruling him out for the remainder of Super Rugby Pacific’.

With the All Blacks kicking off the Dave Rennie era against France in Christchurch on July 4, Jordan will potentially also miss the first test of the year.

Jordan’s last touch was dishing an assist to Johnny McNicholl, who will almost certainly replace him in the No 15 jersey when the Crusaders host the Hurricanes on Friday night.

The Crusaders don’t have a good track record without Jordan, failing to make the 2024 playoffs when he missed the entire campaign with a shoulder injury, and also stuttering when he was out for six weeks this year.

His availability was crucial en route to their title win a year ago, and he joins All Black Tamaiti Williams (discitis) as being out for the campaign.

Among others, the Crusaders are also without centre Braydon Ennor, lock Tahlor Cahill and hooker George Bell as they chase the No 3 seed and a home qualifying final.
