Robet van Royen's picks for the All Blacks team for their season-opener against France.

“The All Blacks need to find out if Ruben Love can handle the No 10 jersey at test level, meaning he should start at least two of the July fixtures,” van Royen said.

“Leaving him out of the first test of the year was difficult, but he can come off the bench behind the experienced Damian McKenzie against France and start against Italy and Ireland.

“Elsewhere, Quinn Tupaea edges out Billy Proctor for the No 13 jersey. He's simply too good not to have on the paddock alongside Jordie Barrett, and last year showed he is comfortable pushing out one position.”
