Team news
Warriors coach Andrew Webster has made the call not to back up Mitch Barnett and Kurt Capewell just 48 hours after New South Wales 30-12 State of Origin series-deciding victory.
Barnett got through 38 industrious minutes in the middle for the Blues, while Capewell had a busy 50 minutes in the Queensland jersey.
Their absences are offset by the return of co-captain James Fisher-Harris from a calf injury and Leka Halasima after his hamstring complaint. That pair have not played since the round 13 loss to the Panthers on May 31.
Electric winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira is also back from a leg injury in welcome news following Dallin Watene-Zelezniak being ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Webster has also resisted the temptation to start mid-season recruit Luke Laulilii for his Warriors debut against his former team, after he joined the club before the June 30 deadline.
What to expect
Benji Marshall’s Tigers upset the Warriors 32-14 back in round four, in Auckland, but their form has fallen off a cliff since then, with only one win from their last five games.
However, they have finally got their starting halves combination of Jarome Luai and Adam Doueihi back together, although that will be offset by the loss of Apisai Koroisau with a pec injury.
Down in 12th place, the Tigers will be desperate for a win over the Warriors to push them back towards the top eight.
On the other side of the fence, the Warriors have only won one of their last four, but the three losses were all by just two points and came against top four sides the Panthers and Dolphins plus the sixth-placed Sharks.
This time around, the Warriors should be able to strangle the Tigers in the middle and make Marshall’s side play off the back foot, to help ensure a much-needed Warriors win.
