The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games started on July 23, with a team of 116 Kiwi athletes.

The 23rd Commonwealth Games, which run until August 2, will feature a 10-sport programme across four venues.

It is the second time the Scottish city has hosted the Games (previously in 2014), with Glasgow stepping in to save the sporting event just two years ago after Australia's Victoria state backed out of plans to host.

This edition of the Commonwealth Games will run a reduced number of events. Thirteen of NZ’s 50 medals in Birmingham 2022 came from sports that aren’t being contested in Glasgow - squash, mountain biking, road cycling, triathlon, sevens rugby, wrestling and cricket.
