The Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) allows people in New Zealand to access information held by governments and government agencies.
The system aims to promotes openness and transparency, and enable public participation in government.
We want to hear about your experience with the OIA. Have you made a request in the past? If so, did your receive the information you were seeking? Was the system efficient and easy to use?
Do you think the system could do with an overhaul? What, in your opinion, would make the process better?
The Government is currently calling on people to submit on whether a review is warranted.
Stuff has launched a project exploring the OIA called Redacted.
Share your thoughts on the OIA by clicking the button below. Submissions must be at least 300 words. App users, email stuffnation@stuff.co.nz.
