UberEats is preparing to launch in Christchurch.

Late-night takeaway trips could be over – UberEats is coming to Christchurch.

Uber is preparing to launch its food delivery service, UberEats, in the Garden City. The service, already available in Wellington and Auckland, will heat up the food delivery scene by delivering restaurant meals to homes and offices.

Confirmation came after several job advertisements for delivery drivers popped up on recruitments sites on Thursday.

'Have a car, motorbike, scooter or bike? Become an UberEats delivery partner and help deliver food from Christchurch's best restaurants to hungry people across the city,' the post said.

UberEats uses local drivers to deliver meals. The delivery fee costs about $6 per trip.

The service allows customers to track their order from start to finish. Users can check the restaurant's wait time before ordering through the app, then watch the progress of the meal being prepared and track when it is on the way to their home.

UberEats launched its Auckland branch in March. It delivers seven days a week from 8am to 10pm within Auckland central suburbs, between Parnell and Eden Park. A branch launched in Wellington's food market earlier this month.

The app is available in over 50 cities in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa.
