There's more to Bali than just beach clubs - here's how you can immerse yourself in the island's rich culture

Air New Zealand is the only airline offering a direct connection between NZ and Bali.

The airline currently flies direct from Auckland 5-7 times a week between April and October.

They will operate 2-3 flights a week between November and March.

Fancy heading to Bali for Christmas and New Year this year?

Air New Zealand has announced it will now fly to the Indonesian island year-round, rather than just as a seasonal service.

The airline currently flies direct to Bali from Auckland five to seven times a week between April and October, and now will operate two to three flights a week between November and March.

It’s the first time Air New Zealand will operate year-round flights to the popular holiday hotspot, and will mean 800 seats are available each week during the NZ summer months.

Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty said the move to provide year-round flight options for customers is a testament to the popularity of Bali as a holiday hotspot.

“Bali has become an increasingly popular destination for Kiwi holidaymakers. With something to offer every type of traveller – from culture to incredible food, surf, relaxation, and adventure – expanding our Bali services made sense.

“As the only airline offering a direct connection between Aotearoa and Bali, Kiwis heading off on a Bali break over the summer months no longer need to fly with a stopover. Holidaymakers can book a Bali Christmas or New Year holiday with direct flights to warm weather through the day and long balmy nights,” she said.

“Bookings to Bali have been strong since we relaunched our seasonal service in March 2023. This year’s seasonal flights have proven even more popular, with thousands of Kiwis booking Bali breaks over the last few months.”

Flight Centre New Zealand said bookings to Bali are up more than 50% in the first five months of 2024, compared to the same time last year.

Managing Director Victoria Courtney said family bookings have more than doubled and they hope to see this trend continue with year-round flights.

'We are thrilled with Air New Zealand's announcement to offer year-round flights from Auckland to Bali. This decision reflects the growing demand for this vibrant and culturally rich destination among New Zealand travellers,“ she said.

“Additionally, Air New Zealand's initiative to offer fare options connecting to Europe via Bali introduces an exciting new travel route for our customers. This allows travellers to enjoy an amazing stopover in Bali, breaking up their journey and adding an extra dimension to their travel experience.

“We look forward to helping our customers take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to explore Bali and beyond.'
