Queenstown-based ski field owners NZSki has announced an early Christmas present for keen skiers.

A new early bird season pass will allow holders to ski at The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and The Hutt and be priced at $599.

That is cheaper than a season pass for one ski field last year and $400 cheaper than the equivalent pass last year.

The company said it was aimed at growing participation in skiing and snowboarding in Queenstown, introducing new people to snow sports and celebrating years of significant investment.

NZSki has invested heavily in its facilities in recent years most recently with a $45m investment at The Remarkables in a new base building, Curvey Basin chairlift, extended car parking, new terrain and trails and road sealing.

Multi-day passes are also on offer for the Early bird period as well as a four-day Learn To Ski package (lift, lesson and rental) with an optional $100 upgrade to a 3 Peak Pass once the programme has been completed.

Australian skiers and snowboarders heading across the Tasman for a winter holiday at New Zealand's top fields can also access the deals – helping drive business for the resort town across the board.

The passes will be available between December 17 and March 31.

NZSki Chairman Sir John Davies said that since acquiring The Remarkables and Coronet Peak ski areas about 12 years ago, the company's long-term plan had been to offer the best possible ski product by investing heavily in comprehensive upgrades.

'Over the last decade we've given local children very competitive prices through the schools program, but our research shows that lots of families with these children haven't been able to afford family skiing.

'We hope the new prices will stimulate the local family market so we can share our great products with our local communities.'
