Donald Trump says his debate with Kamala Harris was ‘rigged’.
He said the moderators ‘corrected’ him too frequently.
Despite that, he claimed to have won the debate.
US presidential candidate Donald Trump says his election debate with Kamala Harris was “rigged”, but despite that he was the winner.
Speaking backstage after the debate, Trump said it was his strongest performance to date.
'Pretty close to a 10 [out of 10],' CNN quoted him as saying.
“It was the best debate I’ve ever had,” he insisted, adding that he had a “great night”, the Telegraph reported.
When asked by Britain’s Channel 4 news if he thought he’d won, he said “92% to 7 … I felt I won by a lot”.
He went on to accuse ABC of running an “unfair” event, with biased moderators.
The next day, Trump repeated that claim to Fox News.
He said he felt like he was battling three opponents - Harris along with David Muir and Linsey Davis, the two moderators from ABC News, which hosted the debate.
The moderators had “corrected” him too frequently, Trump said.
Government regulators ought to take away ABC’s licence “for the way they did that”, Trump said, calling the network “terrible”.
“We did great,” Trump said. “It was one of my better debates, one of my best debates.”
Harris was happy with her performance, telling supporters “today was a good day”.
Her campaign called for a second debate in October. Trump told Fox he’d be “less inclined to, because we had a great night”.
Trump also downplayed the endorsement of Harris by singer Taylor Swift.
“I am not a Taylor Swift fan … she’ll probably pay a price for it in the market,” Trump said.
The share price of his social media company Trump Media fell sharply in the wake of the debate.
