The convicted sex offender wants her 20-year prison term reduced and her only option is to ask the US president for a commutation.

Ghislaine Maxwell is set to ask Donald Trump to reduce her jail term, according to reports.

The 63-year-old is currently serving a 20-year sentence for trafficking under-aged girls to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Her appeal against her conviction was rejected last month, and her only option is a commutation or pardon from the US president.

Maxwell has told her lawyer that she wants to send documents for a commutation application through a prison warden, the Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

“I am struggling to keep it all together as it is big and there are so many attachments,” she told her lawyer in an email, Politico reported.

The subject line of the email, provided to the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee by a whistleblower, was “RE: Commutation Application”.

“More coming to replace others … hopefully it will all make sense.”

Trump said granting clemency to Maxwell was something he “was allowed to do” in July and refused to rule it out, the Telegraph reported.

Maxwell was recently moved to a minimum security prison where she said she was “much happier” in an email to friends.
