Texan firm ‘commits’ to creating 300 tech and AI jobs in NZ over next few years

Texas-based MTX Group, a mid-sized IT services firms with about 1600 staff globally, says it plans to create 300 “high value” jobs in New Zealand over the next two to three years as it builds out its newly established local presence.
MTX got a toehold in the New Zealand market in December when it announced the acquisition of the local arm of Salesforce consultancy Adapt IQ.
The company, which also has operations in Australia and Europe, last month appointed Wellingtonian technologist Sri Gazula to oversee its global growth.
Gazula, a former partner at Grant Thornton and head of technology operations at Police, said he saw opportunities for MTX to attract back IT staff who had left the capital for Australia in recent years, and to bid for work from the Government and overseas clients.
MTX co-founder Das Nobel, who was named by Ernst & Young as one of its 12 entrepreneurs of the year in the US in 2021, said its investment in New Zealand was a significant milestone in its global growth strategy.
“New Zealand has a thriving tech ecosystem and a unique talent pool.”
Gazula said the 300 positions it intended to create would include graduate-level roles as well as jobs for senior technical architects and engineers, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
“We are investing in Kiwi talent to pioneer next-generation AI and digital services that will benefit communities worldwide,” he said.
