WOAP heats up with matcha pop-up and tropical vibes

However you take your matcha fix, Matcha Moments at Orient is serving it up. For one week, this pop-up is offering something for every taste, for the super sweet or the connoisseurs. You can drop in each day to enjoy a new matcha inspired creation - from iced-lattes, matcha infused pastries and savoury bites.

The chance to grab all your matcha needs, including all you need to create a bit of match magic at home, runs unitil the end of the festival on the 31st.

Throughout August, Beach Babylon has become a winter escape to Club Tropicana, where the music, food and vibes transport you to a golden sunset-filled retro beach. Inspired by 1960’s beach honeymoons, classic tiki bars and vintage beach glamour - it’s a no passport required sun-soaked getaway, in the heart of Wellington.

The tropical menu, served daily for lunch and dinner, is designed to take you right to the vibrant sands of Club Tropicana - starting with coconut prawns, before tucking into sticky mango glazed pork ribs or the tropical tofu paneer curry, finishing strong on the sweet retro vibes, with a pineapple upside down cake or coconut-rum fondue. The kava cocktails are flowing on this tropical getaway dining experience.

What does this year’s festival theme Food is Love mean to you?

I love being out on the floor and welcoming people to my restaurant and making them feel as if they are in my home. This approach is maybe why we are now rated one of the top restaurants in Wellington.

What do you enjoy about Wellington On a Plate?

I appreciate the Wellington On a Plate team so much for putting on such a great festival and connecting everyone together. It saves the Wellington food scene in the winter, it fills restaurants up and we have a lot of happy people coming through our door.
