Woman’s body found in water near Eastbourne

Police are asking for information after the body of a woman thought to be 60 or 70 years old was found near Eastbourne on Sunday morning.

The woman’s body was found in the water near Māhina Bay, between Eastbourne and Point Howard, about 8am on Sunday.

The woman was found wearing activewear, including a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on it.

The spokesperson said residents of Māhina Bay and the surrounding suburbs may notice more police in the area as they investigated the woman’s death, including shoreline searches.
