Wellington’s new water entity now has a name and its board of directors has been identified.

Tiaki Wai Metro Water will take over the running of the Wellington region’s pipes next year as part of the Government’s Local Water Done Well changes.

Unlike Wellington Water it will have greater borrowing power to get on top of the region’s water infrastructure woes.

The Post earlier reported the board had been chosen but nobody in the know would identify those on it.

They have now been confirmed as Will Peet, Jon Lamonte, Elena Trout and Adrian Wimmers.

Peet, who will chair the group, is a Wellington-based independent director and advisor with experience in infrastructure, transport, technology, and public sector governance.

Lamonte is the former Watercare chief executive with experience in transport and logistics.

Trout is an independent director and civil engineer with experience in transport, infrastructure and energy.

Wimmers is a Wellington-based commercial and infrastructure advisor and public sector governance leader.
