Wellington in for Ultra special treat

An epic one-day music festival, considered by dance music fans to be the world’s best, hits Wellington next year.
Arguably the most recognisable brand in electronic dance music, Miami-based Ultra Music Festival is set to be hosted in the capital next April, a much-needed boost for the city following the loss this year of long-time waterfront event Homegrown.
Promoter Mitch Lowe said bringing a festival of Ultra’s calibre to New Zealand’s shores was a huge milestone for the nation’s music industry.
“The city will be transformed into an international celebration that puts our capital on the world festival map. People travel far and wide to attend Ultra and we’re excited to show international visitors what the country has to offer, all while giving our prized locals something to be proud of.”
The one-day festival on April 10 will be spread across four stages, and is expected to attract around 20,000 music fans from around the country as well as Australia and Asia-Pacific. Previous headline performers at Ultra events include David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Deadmau5, and Charlotte de Witte.
