Ruben Love with fans - and the trophy
Wellingtonians turned out on Sunday to celebrate the Hurricanes’ 60-5 win over the Chiefs in this year’s Super Rugby final.
Ruben Love was named player of the final after his 25-point haul which included a spectacular dive in the corner for his second try.
As he was called up to accept the award on the windswept podium, a winner’s medal around his neck, Love grabbed the microphone from interviewer Jeff Wilson for a tribute to the fans.
“Thank you to everybody from Wellington, the lower North Island… Palmerston North, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wellington… rugby is back in the 04! It’s a dream, thank you,” Love said to roars from the sell-out crowd of 33,198.
