Video emerges of apparent arrest of Australian diplomat’s partner

A video of what appears to be an incident involving an Australian diplomat’s partner has emerged.
Stuff obtained the footage of what appears to be the foreign diplomat's partner in central Wellington late last month. Stuff reported it understood it was of the incident in Wellington that police are investigating.
Among expletives and a homophobic slur, the man in the video yells, “I’ve got diplomatic immunity”.
Last week police were attempting to charge the partner of an Australian diplomat, who has diplomatic immunity, after a violent melee in Wellington in the early hours of Sunday after the All Blacks beat Australia in Wellington.
Asked if a waiver would or would not be granted, a spokesperson from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on Tuesday that posted officials and their dependants “are expected to respect the law of the country to which they are posted”.
“The department is engaging with New Zealand authorities in relation to this matter.”
