Contactless bus payments on Christchurch's horizon

Kiwis taking the bus from Christchurch Airport to the city will not need a Metrocard in two months time thanks to Motu Move.
A pilot of the National Ticketing Solution (NTS) Motu Move, enabling bus users to pay fares with their phones or contactless credit and debit cards, is coming to Christchurch in December.
It will be tested on the Route 29 bus from Christchurch Airport to the city, making it easier for visitors to travel during summer. Cash and Metrocards can still be used.
Specific dates on the full Christchurch roll out next year will be finalised “over the next few months”, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said in a statement on Friday.
The system will be rolled out in Timaru and Temuka in early 2025, before Christchurch.
