The incident reportedly happened at a year 6 camp in February, Wilson said.

He understood a formal complaint had been made to police, but police were not investigating, he said.

Students and families involved were being supported, and he was not aware of any students who had left the college because of the incident or any related concerns, Wilson said.

He was unable to comment further in order to protect the privacy of those involved.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to addressing it thoroughly,” he said.

“If anyone has concerns, we would be happy to hear from them directly to address this.”

The school, which takes year 1 to year 13, costs between $20,000 and $29,000 a year to attend. It is considered one of the city’s top schools and consistently has close to 100% of students achieve NCEA Level 3.
