Youths in custody after bus interchange assault

Police were alerted to the assault on Lichfield St at around 5.30pm.

A person is in hospital after being assaulted by a group of young people by the Christchurch Bus Interchange on Tuesday night.

A police spokesperson said three young people were taken into custody, but enquiries were ongoing to find the remaining alleged offenders.

Police were alerted to the assault on Lichfield St - less than 300m away from the central city police station - at around 5.30pm.

A person was located with moderate injuries and transported to hospital by police, with three youths located a short time later nearby and taken into custody.
