The One New Zealand Stadium will open its doors to the public for behind-the-scenes tours from July 24, with Christchurch ratepayers receiving a 50% discount.

The ticketed experience will give both tourists and locals a chance to explore exclusive areas previously off-limits to spectators.

Visitors will be taken through changing rooms, coaches’ boxes, media spaces, and the players’ tunnel—areas normally reserved for players, entertainers, and officials.

Tours will include visits to level 4 (media and coaches’ spaces), the Scenic Hotels’ Circle on level 3, suites on level 2, the Ōtautahi Lounge and ground floor facilities including changing rooms and field side.

Venues Otautahi CEO, Caroline Harvie-Teare says they’re incredibly grateful the community have turned up in force for every event.

Multiple tours will be available each week at $40 for adults and $20 for children, with a 50% discount for local residents.

“We are privileged to operate the stadium on behalf of our community, the ratepayers of Ōtautahi, Christchurch so it’s important these tickets are accessible to all,” said Venues Ōtautahi Chief Executive Caroline Harvie-Teare.

The stadium has had a whirlwind start selling out its first seven event days followed by setting a new attendance record for a women’s domestic match last weekend.

Harvie-Teare said the timing was right to open up the stadium now that it had settled into operations following a successful opening.

Tickets for the tours will start from $20 for kids and $40 for adults, but 50% for locals.

“The community has turned up in force for every event. Now that we’ve had an opportunity to get established at the venue, the timing is right to launch the tours programme and take guests behind the scenes into the exclusive spaces which only a small number of people get to see,” Harvie-Teare said.

Todd Schmidt, Venues Ōtautahi Director Impact and Experience, said the tours would showcase the stadium’s architecture and the stories behind the design.

“Our tours are about taking guests on a journey through what it took for us to get this stadium, the cultural narrative or the designs and artwork, the science of the turf, and some insight into what it takes to operate a world class facility,” Schmidt said.

Stadium Tours are available to book online at the One New Zealand Stadium website, with private tours available for groups of over 10 people, including optional food and beverage packages.
