Police are searching for a 69-year-old woman who has been missing in Christchurch for four days.

The woman, named only as Adele, was last seen in person on Monday leaving Eastgate Mall in Linwood at about 1pm, a police spokesperson said.

Adele, who lives in Shirley in her own home, was reported missing on Thursday.

“Adele now has grey hair and is of thin build. She was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket over a red top, and blue jeans, however, could have changed clothes since then.”

Her loved ones have “great concerns for her welfare,” the spokesperson said.

It is believed she is still in the Christchurch area.

Concerns have deepened because of the recent cold weather, with overnight temperatures in the city falling from 6.8C on Monday, to minus 2.3C on Friday morning.

Police urged anyone with information that could help find her to call 111 and reference file number 260618/2259.

Adele is the latest person to go missing in Christchurch in recent weeks.

Police found 81-year-old Christchurch woman Valerie Hargrave cold but alive in grass near Tunnel Rd in Woolston earlier this month after she had been missing for five days.

She was about a kilometre from her home.

In June last year, Elisabeth Nicolls, a 79-year-old Christchurch woman with dementia, who disappeared from the Margaret Stoddart Retirement Village in June last year.

She was found dead 19 days later in an abandoned home, less than 3km away from the retirement village, and less than 300m away from the home she lived in before moving to the village.
