Two in critical condition, seven others injured in Canterbury crash

Nine people have been injured in a serious crash on a rural Canterbury road, with two in critical condition.
At about 5.55pm on Saturday evening, police were called to a serious two-vehicle crash on Darfield’s Greendale Rd, near Clintons Rd.
A police spokesperson said a car and a van were involved, and about nine people were injured.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said a total of 13 patients were treated, but only nine needed to be to transported to Christchurch Hospital.
Two were in critical condition, while two sustained serious injuries, three had moderate injuries, and two had minor injuries. Four other patients were assessed at the scene.
Emergency services were earlier called to a two-vehicle crash on Johns Rd in Northwood, Christchurch, at about 4.15pm.
Police said at the time there were serious injuries. Johns Rd was closed while emergency services responded, but it has since reopened.
Inquiries into the circumstances of both incidents were ongoing.
