Prime Minister Narendra Modi's whirlwind visit to New Zealand was the first from an Indian prime minister in 40 years.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon welcomed Modi with a guard of honour at Auckland Airport when he touched down on Friday evening.
Saturday morning began at Government House in Epsom, with nearby streets lined with police and security.
Ngāti Tūmatauenga, the Defence Force's iwi, welcomed Modi with a haka and wero, with kaumātua Joe Harawira translating in his ear. After the guard of honour and a 21-gun salute, the two prime ministers held a one-on-one discussion. They then had a formal bilateral meeting.

On Saturday evening Modi addressed a large gathering of the Indian diaspora at a sold-out event at Spark Arena before departing Auckland.
Outside the Kia Ora Modi rally on Saturday night Indian Sikhs protested India's democratic record and the persecution they ‒ and members of other religions ‒ have faced under Modi's administration.
