It was a field full of happiness as sunflowers brought light to an overcast Waikato day.

The Taupiri Sunflower Farm on Gordonton Road allows people to come and enjoy over two hectares of sunflower fields, while also being able to select their own flowers to take home.

The sunflower farming idea bloomed in 2020, when Deanne Crowder and her husband Phillip decided to plant sunflowers along the road frontage beside their maize crops.

If you want to take a bit of happiness home it’s recommended that you take your own secateurs or strong scissors.

Also a bucket or bin bag to protect the flowers on the way home.
