Tuesday, 5 March 2024

US singer Pink is catching the sights (and tastes) of New Zealand ahead of her show at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Despite arriving to wet and wild weather in Otago on Monday, the Trustfall hitmaker showed showcased Dunedin’s humble offerings with a slide of photos shared to Instagram.

The 44-year-old shared her discovery of Pinkys and Perkynanas, Cadbury chocolates made in New Zealand, leading commenters to suggest she tries Whittakers’ slabs next.

She also shared snaps of Mo Cuts, the window display of a vintage store, one of Dunedin’s famous laneways, and a poster of the star pasted on the front of Relics Music.

Pink will perform one show in Dunedin on Tuesday night.

The city itself is sharing the star’s spirit by lighting up a number of buildings pink, including Toitū Otago Settlers Museum, Dunedin Railway Station, Dunedin Airport, Tūhura Otago Museum, Forsyth Barr Stadium, the Grand Casino and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Forsyth Barr Stadium, which opened in 2011, has new state-of-the-art lighting installed.

The expected influx of visitors led the Dunedin City Council to convert the Victoria Rd carpark into 100 bookable parks for certified self-contained campervans, from Monday until Wednesday.

From Dunedin, Pink will make her way to Auckland where she’ll perform at Eden Park on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9.
