Seddon man Ross Jones Wallace named as driver killed in Riverlands crash near Blenheim

A man killed in a crash on State Highway 1 near Blenheim has been named by police.

He was Ross Jones Wallace, 53, of Seddon. He was also known as Ross Jones Puna.

Wallace was driving a car that rolled on the highway just north of the Riverlands truck stop, southeast of Blenheim, about 6.18pm on July 12.

A police spokesperson said Wallace, the sole occupant, died at the scene.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing, the spokesperson said.

The crash was the second of three fatal crashes on the highway between Blenheim and Ward this month.

An SUV and a ute collided head-on, just south of the Smiths Overbridge, about eight kilometres south of Blenheim, about 6.50am on Friday. One person died at the scene. Police have not yet confirmed that person's identity.

Damian James Pollock, 27, died when his ute went off the highway about 2km south of Seddon on July 1.
