Giltrap Group to sell Lotus cars in New Zealand

The Lotus Emira is here as the British carmaker's farewell to the combustion engine.

The Giltrap Group announced overnight that it would introduce the Lotus brand to its stable, with a dedicated Auckland showroom set to open for business later this year.

Michael Giltrap, Joint Managing Director, Giltrap Group, commented: “We are thrilled to represent Lotus in New Zealand. It’s a brand with strong motor racing and sports car heritage that has an exciting future ahead with high-performance pure electric vehicles.”

Chris Parker, Brand Specialist, Lotus Auckland, added: “Lotus is the pinnacle ‘drivers car’ – light, fast, and exhilarating to be in the company of. The company has won the hearts of sports car fans around the world for more than 70 years, and with an exciting new range coming, we know the brand has a bright future ahead.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Giltrap Group. It has a proud history in the automotive world and a genuine passion for motorsport, making it the perfect partner for Lotus Cars.”

Models available will initially comprise Final Editions of the Lotus Elise and Exige, followed by the awesome new Emira in 2022. These are the final petrol-powered Lotuses to be built, as the brand becomes fully electric.

There was no mention of the Evjia hypercar.

Pricing also wasn’t discussed, although if you’re interested, you can sign up for updates at the new Lotus Auckland website.

The Exige and Evora Final Edition cars will be on display when the Lotus showroom at 172 Great North Road is completed, expected to be sometime before the end of the year.
