Lotus Auckland confirms pricing for Elise and Exige

Tuesday, 21 September 2021

The Lotus Emira is here as the British carmaker's farewell to the combustion engine.

Pricing for the first locally sold Lotus cars in a good few years has been confirmed, the Elise Sport 240 and Cup 250 Final Editions and a trio of Exige Final Editions.

The range starts below the $100k mark with the $94,900 Elise Sport 240, while the Elise Cup 250 starts at $105,900. Opting for a more powerful Exige ups the price to $139,900 for the Sport 390; $159,900 for the Sport 420; and $219,500 for the Exige Cup 430.

These will eventually be followed by the awesome new Emira in 2022. These are the final petrol-powered Lotuses to be built, as the brand becomes fully electric. There was no mention of the Evija hypercar.

The Elise and Exige Final Editions are coming to New Zealand, with prices starting below $100k.

That price might seem high for the Exige Cup 430, but it’s actually the fastest road car ever produced by Lotus – until the Emira and Evija show up, of course.

It has a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 making 320kW/430Nm, enough to send the 1.1-tonne featherweight to 100kmh in around 3.2 seconds. That low weight comes from ditching things like power steering, air-conditioning, and the radio.

According to Lotus, it’s also a full second quicker around its Hethel test track than the Evora, thanks in part to sophisticated electronics as well as the mechanical wizardry.

The Giltrap Group announced in earlier in September that it is set to show off the Elise and Exige models in a dedicated Auckland showroom set to open for business before the end of the year (Covid-permitting).

Michael Giltrap, Joint Managing Director, Giltrap Group, commented: “We are thrilled to represent Lotus in New Zealand. It’s a brand with strong motor racing and sports car heritage that has an exciting future ahead with high-performance pure electric vehicles.”

Chris Parker, Brand Specialist, Lotus Auckland, added: “Lotus is the pinnacle ‘drivers car’ – light, fast, and exhilarating to be in the company of. The company has won the hearts of sports car fans around the world for more than 70 years, and with an exciting new range coming, we know the brand has a bright future ahead.”
