Driver in fatal Kingston head-on bus crashed named

The second man who died in a head-on collision with a bus in Otago was 23-year-old US man Felix Lai.

Lai was driving the car that crashed into a bus while passing a truck on double yellow lines on State Highway 6, near Kingston, on November 1.

He was taken to Dunedin Hospital and died a few days later.

Spencer Jason Hom Dow, 23, also from the US, was a passenger in the car and died at the scene.

The two men met in New Zealand and were travelling around the country together.

Eight people on the bus were injured in the crash, which happened about 15 kilometres south of the area known as the Devil's Staircase. 

None of their injuries were life threatening.
